Mike Hill
Nlaka'pamux (Thompson) First Nations' artist Mike Hill established his jewelry-making skills the old-fashioned way. While traveling in Venezuela, Mike met jewelry maestro Dennis a genuine street vendor. Right then and there, on the street,Dennis showed Mike the basics of jewelry-making. The tools and techniques Mike uses are varied, beginning with leather work in the traditional South American style and then graduating to silver smithing.
Mike now incorporates a modern approach to wire work, using semiprecious stones and rare fossils. He currently spends his summer season in Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. |
